Designed to be super comfortable, the master suite has a walk-in closet that’s a shoe addict’s dream. Active Adult Living in Orlando Florida

Orlando, Florida in the last 36 years went from being a regional town to one of Florida's largest cities. It is not only a booming city and immensely popular vacation destination, but also a mecca for Florida retirement communities. Walt Disney got it all started when his company purchased vast tracts of land in this former farming area and announced plans to construct Disney World in 1965. Epcot followed and now Orlando is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. The area is also home to countless Central Florida retirement communities.

Palm Springs Active Adult Retirement Communities

Five Reasons to Move for Retirement

Active adults on the verge of retirement often dream about retiring in a place where they will be able to maintain a permanent tan. But most people don’t pick a retirement spot based on better weather. Grandchildren and the cost of the move figure much more prominently into retirement decisions than a permanent summer. Here’s a look at the most common reasons people age 55 and over move to a new Palm Springs active adult retirement communities.

Be near family - Many retirees would like to be more involved in their grandchildren’s lives. The most common reason people age 55 and older move (20 percent) is to be closer to family. Movers age 75 and older (39 percent) were the most likely of any age group to relocate near relatives in 2009. Just 7 percent of those age 45 and under moved primarily to be near loved ones, according to a recent MetLife Mature Market Institute and National Association of Home Builders analysis of Census Bureau data.

Save money - Downsizing to a smaller home or relocating to an area of the country with a lower cost-of-living or taxes could significantly reduce your retirement costs. Some 6 percent of individuals age 55 and over who moved in 2009 did so to reduce their housing costs, compared to 4 percent of younger homeowners seeking less expensive housing. Palm Springs area, specifically La Quinta, offer Palm Springs active adult retirement communities that provide all the luxury resort style ammenities expected by 55 and over active adults.

Also, most of these 55 communities offer very affordable luxury new homes, golf resort and spa, gourmet dining, hiking trails, country clubhouse, and yes, plenty of sunshine for those choosing to retire in an active adult community in Palm Springs. Palm Springs California has always been a top choice for active adults seeking the best in retirement living.

Job opportunities - Workers between ages 55 and 64 were almost equally as likely to move for a job opportunity as younger workers (11 percent). However, after age 65, the likelihood of moving for a job drops to 5 percent, MetLife found. And while 9 percent of people age 45 and under moved closer to work or school in 2009, only 3 percent of those age 55 and older did the same.

Change in marital status - Homeowners age 75 and older were the most likely to move due to a change in marital status, such as widowhood (11 percent). Far fewer younger people traded places due to a marriage, divorce, or other family change. If you are retiring and single, then checkout the outstanding Palm Springs active adults retirement communities to put you new social calendar right on track. Most of these retirement communities have so many social functions to keep you busy interacting with like-minded active adults.

Upgrade - People in their late 50s or older (8 percent) who moved in 2009 were far less likely to upgrade to a bigger home than their younger counterparts (18 percent). While 12 percent of movers under 45 moved into a better quality home, just 10 percent of those over 55 traded up. Most Palm Spring active adults new homes are very affordable, especially when you consider all the ammenites these retirement communities include in the purchase of your new home.

Today, many are buying into North Las Vegas active adult retirement communities because of the excellent location - just far enough away from The Strip, yet close enough to enjoy Vegas entertainment and dining.

There are affordable new homes in a superior North Las Vegas active adult communities that Baby Boomes would find all the ammenities for resort style living.

Washington Active Adult New Homes Built With Golfers in Mind

“There is a growing consensus on the economic benefits of trails, benefit to property values, health benefits and traffic congestion benefits. Communities where people have opportunities for recreation tend to be healthier" - Jessyn Farrell, Executive Director of Transportation Choices Coalition in Seattle, Washington*.

If you are a health-conscious active adult in search of a Washington active adult community with recreational opportunities take a look at King County. The Sammamish River, for instance, features a trail that runs 10.9 miles along the Sammamish River from Bothell to Marymoor Park in Redmond as part of the “Locks to Lakes Corridor.” Trail is paved and offers extraordinary views of the river, the broad Sammamish River Valley, Cascade foothills and Mt. Rainier. It’s a great place for joggers, bicyclists, skaters, walkers and just about anyone who loves to be outdoors.

Speaking of the outdoors, is golfing your game? Tee off at the Golf Club at Redmond Ridge. This 18-hole, par-70 championship course designed by architect Gary Panks was recognized by Links Magazine for having the "Best Conditions in the Pacific Northwest." In fact, if you want to make golfing part of your regular routine, consider buying a new home in a Washington active adult community. Some communities here even build the golfing lifestyle right into the community.

For example, Washington active adult new homes can be found at Trilogy at Redmond Ridge just 20 minutes east of downtown Seattle between Washington’s Cascade Mountains and Puget Sound. At heart of the community is the Cascade Club, a 32,000-square-foot hub where residents can gather for golf, state of the art physical training, a dip in the Olympic-style pool with a private spa overlooking the forest, a run on an elevated indoor running/walking track, relaxation in a steam room and more. In this community, active adults will always find something to do. For more information about new homes here, contact a Trilogy Community Representative at 888.204.4446.
